They had several GM trucks and I’m kinda partial to GM things. I knew the Equinox would get a chuckle on here

Kinja'd!!!

This 3500 4x4 had a manual transmission and that’s just rad!

Being public services means ordering off the menu. Being First Responder a new menu suddenly appears in its place.

That’s just badass down home Oppo action!

Local fireman shifts gears while talking on CB on the way to an emergency. Tax dollars well spent!

Isn’t it awesome!! One would think using a turtle for a rapid response crew would be a poor choice....but these guys are like “nah, we’re using the turtle!”

I love their logo!

My daughter's cub scout troop leader is an EMT. She's going to try and get us a tour at her station soon.

I love this stuff! I’m perpetually 10 years old as far as fire trucks go. I actually live near our local fire house and the trucks go by with sirens blaring all the time. It makes me smile!!

It was really fun (because I love Fire trucks). But also very informative. I learned a lot: about how the station responds to various calls, which vehicles they use, where they take people in the EMS vehicles and how they cooperate with other departments in the area (which I guess is very complex and varies by county here in Ohio).

Also (and this was my question): I learned that other than facing actual fire; their second most dangerous job function is what they call “swift water rescue”

That’s why they have boats. He says it’s very very very dangerous. Water is more treacherous than fire. I guess a different department close by almost lost a fireman just in a training exercise awhile back.

Fascinating stuff

*also the captain invited us all come fish at the pond near his subdivision. I guess there’s large Bass aplenty up there!
